That's actually not accurate, I believe. It's true that if the motors are counter rotating each other in sequence, MWC will handle pitch, roll and elevation without caring exactly which side they're turning, but yaw is slightly different, as MWC must know which motors to spin down or up to make the ...

Maybe this is just the noob in me talking, but are you sure you have the motors going the right way and the propellers in the appropriate direction too? It really looks like my hexa when I mount something wrong.

Well, this is being much more of a challenge than I expected, but I'm not complaining So yesterday I flashed my ESCs with SimonK's firmware. Today I recalibrated the throttle range and I must say that it did nothing to improve stability (though it wasn't stable to start with so it did do something)....

Well, I resoldered what appeared to be perfect solder joints and in fact the motor doesn't stop now, although I have the ESC held differently than before so I'm hoping it's not a bad connection that just happens to be right now. Still, I should be getting some gear to allow me to reflash these ESCs ...

The NIMH tip is great, but I seriously doubt that's the case as last time it quit I was running on a full pack which should not trigger the shut down for either bat type. I have no extras, and I've been planning on buying a set of ESCs that are rated with a little margin (18A+) and are flashable instead of buying spares for what I have. So there are two main solutions with the simplest machines (no GPS, no sonar), and that's "drop like a rock" and "slowly approach ground with skin cutting propellers" I still prefer the latter, especially if I can add a loud buzzer to it, but I can also see the point for the form...

I think for safety reasons the handling in case of failsafe must remain as simple as possible. You do not want to have weird errors in that part of the code. when your motors are armed but sitting at min throttle and you have the GUI connected, how much vibration do you see in the GUI? you should see close to no movement at all, in fact any movement you see at min throttle will only amplify as you crank up throttle.
