Re: Odd ACC response on MultiWiiConf

Just a quick update on this thread since it's gone a bit quiet of late... I've not had time to get the Quad out in the last week or so since travelling with the family and catching up on some CAD consultancy work. That said, my Crius LCD arrived today so I can alter the PID settings without resortin...

Navi lights

Picked up some 'cheap' 10W LEDs from a Chinese eBay seller, decided that running them on 12V continuously had two problems: They'd drain a Lipo in next to no time, taking 3.33A to run four of them! They get very hot without adequate heat sinks! Decided therefore I'd create a simple strobe controller...

Re: Force Air Cooled 10 Watt LED Navigation Lights

eBay specials huh.... I picked up four a few weeks ago. Running continuously with little heatsinking they run incredibly hot. With a spare Arduino board I had kicking around and some Siliconix littlefoot mosfets I fabricated a strobe controller for these LEDs. Takes a fraction of the power over cont...

Re: Odd ACC response on MultiWiiConf

Fingers crossed the wind dies down a bit soon (on and off blowing a gale here at the mo, though lovely and sunny) before the kids go to bed so I can get the quad out the back garden to check it over...

Re: Odd ACC response on MultiWiiConf

Yeah, that's how I cal the mag... full throttle, yaw right, pitch forward (new sticks in V2) gets it into mag cal - rotate around while the blue led is flashing, then get it back onto the work top... Compass pointer appears to have the same 'levelling' issue I had with the acc above , it moves in sy...

Re: Odd ACC response on MultiWiiConf

Nope... I now have sensible GUI figures for the mag, but the pointer wants to point almost due south, even if I rotate the quad through 180degs :/

Re: Odd ACC response on MultiWiiConf

Bugger it... last bit of testing on the GUI before I hit the sack.... Holding the quad in my hands, move it around, the roll/pitch follows in sympathy. However, YAW the quad around and the arrow pointer in the compass on the GUI moves, then swings back, irrespective of the final position my quad poi...

eBay or Dfrobot, which is the best source?

Re: Odd ACC response on MultiWiiConf

I'm going to stick the IMU down to the WMC as intended, matching X/Y orientation - the GUI follows my inputs faithfully now and most importantly, holds whatever orientation I move the quad - neither roll or pitch level out. Thanks Katch for your candid help on this matter... It seems I was following...

Re: Odd ACC response on MultiWiiConf

Mmm, I've wiped a rather large amount of egg off my face, having removed the sticky pads off the WMC board I can now see the X/Y arrows on the silk screen ident!!! Makes patently obvious reading the arrows should be aligned! lol That said, I woud prefer to mount it as I had it, as it keeps the wires...

Re: Odd ACC response on MultiWiiConf

Sure enough, it's a GY-81! http://www9.zippyshare.com/scaled/34290711/file.html I'll get the board reconnected and check the orientation again against the FAQ recommendations. That said, I'd like to keep the orientation of the IMU on my flightboard the same so as to reduce the wiring length...

Re: Odd ACC response on MultiWiiConf

Interestingly, having made the changes, the GUI now holds the position as I rotate the quad, though it's 90degs out.

Lift left hand side, pitch goes up, lift back, rolls to the right. But, they stay there! It doesn't level back out!!

Re: Odd ACC response on MultiWiiConf

I will invert the roll and pitch settings as per your suggestion above... It's not so easy to remove the IMU from my flight board to check the model, since it's stuck down with several layers of double-sided adhesive foam :)

Re: Odd ACC response on MultiWiiConf

The IMU is defined defined in config.h as #define AEROQUADSHIELDv2 with #if defined(AEROQUADSHIELDv2) // to confirm #define ITG3200 #define BMA180 #define BMP085 #define HMC5843 #define ACC_ORIENTATION(X, Y, Z) {accADC[ROLL] = X; accADC[PITCH] = -Y; accADC[YAW] = Z;} #define GYRO_ORIENTATION(X, Y, Z...

Re: Odd ACC response on MultiWiiConf

Ok, so this photo: http://www9.zippyshare.com/scaled/38966667/file.html Should better illustrate my issue. The quad is being propped up on a bottle of cyano... the Conf app running on my MBP shows the pitch point upwards (and stays there), yet my roll has levelled out horizontal - I'd expect that to...

Re: Odd ACC response on MultiWiiConf

I'm not concerned about the quad graphic as shown above rotated as such - I'm guessing that's down to the magnometer orientation with respect to Earth's magnetic north and my quad on my kitchen worktop is pointing towards south-east. It's the two Roll/Pitch graphics to the right of the compass that ...

Re: PID help with a huge homemade octocopter

Watching your video, it's hard to determine what's going on because you are so close to the ground. As with any heli, you are going to have to get at least a metre or more off the ground to reduce it's influence on how the heli hovers/flies. I wouldn't have said however that the heli is overly-twitc...

Odd ACC response on MultiWiiConf

So, I've built up a Quad using a clone Flamewheel frame off eBay (seems pretty stiff), Flyduino (pro mini) with 9/10dof IMU sourced from ebay also ( m ) I've had a couple of very successful flights with the setup, one shown here: m However: my question is this: When I look at the Roll and Pitch grap...

Re: LED Ring I2C device

Ouch! $99 for the LED ring on eBay... Yet, from their own site, it's a fraction of the cost. Am I looking at the same thing?
