I think the airplane mix will be best then.

correct but the canard is just flat / stable doesn't have controls. So just elevon's on the main wing.

definitely, a must. some radio's have a servo test mode, so that you can program a channel to sweep a servo back and forth while doing your test. also keep in mind a car may cause interference, so you may want to actually get out of the car once you run out of range to see if you can go further.

you need to learn orientation to run with the big dogs. if your trying to do fpv, a beginner really needs to be able to fly from 3rd person view before they jump into fpv.
one good thing about multiwii is you can use head tracking mode. which may help or may just totally mess you up.

For any fail safe it's absolutely critical that it's thoroughly tested!!!

Doesn't seem to respect the ARM checkboxes. When i try to use them it seems to loose all the settings once unplugged.

ive had trouble with the GUI too.
on my one system with ATI graphics, it will crash after about 1 - 20 seconds.
my laptop it runs fun.
the current gui will allow you to save configuration right? maybe you can save the config, then edit it txt editor to enable to settings?

Pure wish but a working ESC calibration and programming feature. So I can easily program the ESC's in an octocopter without having to monkey around with the cables.

yea I read the notes here. I think we need to have manual control over the throttle so we can adjust ESC parameters. Can you allow that?

Also - watch the RCT ESC's. I think they somtimes loose the throttle max end points or arbitrarily decide to reset it.
